Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS) Palpation

Learn one of the most accurate means for “reading” a patient’s Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) response to stimuli. Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS) palpation is a clinical skill required for the advanced practice of Auricular Medicine as taught in Level 2 and beyond. And, even outside of Auricular Medicine practice, VAS palpation is an extremely useful diagnostic skill.

This important palpation technique has benefits over other similar tests of ANS response, such as autonomic response testing (ART) or manual muscle testing (MMT). The VAS, also know as Réflex Auriculocardiaque (RAC) or Nogier-reflex, offers increased clinical precision and removes the potential for bias related to pre-frontal cortex involvement.   2. Identify the most important points
  3. Identify which frequency to use for treatment
  4. Determine effective length of time for laser treatment
  5. Confirm if a point has been properly treated
  6. Check if additional points would add to a treatment

  8. Uncover insights otherwise forgotten/withheld by patient


This course is a stand-alone VAS training from course material presented in section 4 of Level 1. If you are already enrolled in Level 1, you do not need to enroll in this course.
  • Audience: All healthcare and wellness professionals
  • Time investment: 4 hours
  • ANS response vs function: Testing of ANS response should not be confused with testing of ANS function. The VAS is not a QSART, TST, or other test of ANS function. Rather the VAS is used as a means of reading neuroception to understand pathology — a means for testing questions about the nervous system (using a variety of medical frequencies) to efficiently achieve greater understanding of complex health conditions.
